BCT is now the owner of the two Finzean
Old School buildings, having finalised the purchase from Aberdeenshire
Council with the help of Leader+ and Scottish Land Fund funding.
These two 19th century buildings were
run by the Council as an Outdoor Centre from 1964, when the current
Finzean Primary School was built, until June 2000 when the Council
closed the Centre and decided to sell the site on the open market.
However, in response to local concern over the fate of these historic
buildings, BCT persuaded the Council to let it take over their management,
and now BCT owns the buildings.
The larger building is now converted
into 3 separate units, one of which is used as the BCT office with
the other 2 being rented out to 2 local businesses.
The smaller of the two buildings,
known as the Soup Kitchen, has
been developed as a Cultural Heritage and Local History Archive.
