BCT is committed to conserving and promoting the parish's rich and
varied cultural heritage.
Many aspects of the Trust's work
already contribute towards this end including, for example:-
* ownership and management of the Finzean Wood Mills, the Souter's
Shop & Corsedarder;
* the archaeological surveys and historical research at the other
sites managed by BCT;
* the Trust's re-publication of the two main local histories
of the parish (Dinnie and Callander);
Local history about Birse is of great
interest to most residents of the parish and also many people living
elsewhere, particularly those whose ancestors used to live in Birse.
BCT has several publications (see Goods
& Services) and plans to expand and develop the range and
scope of its local history projects.
An important part of this will
be developing a local history archive in the Finzean Old School
Buildings. This will include a wide range of local records and
the Trust has already started to index many of these to provide
a database of former inhabitants which will be of great assistance
to those tracing their ancestry in Birse. |
