The Bucket Mill is
a Grade A Listed Historic Site and unique in Britain with its
specialised water powered machinery for manufacturing wooden
pails or buckets.
The Mill was built
by Peter Brown in the 1850s and operated by three generations
of Browns. The current miller, Stan Moyes, took over the
operation of the Mill in the 1970s following the death of
Willie Brown. BCT became the owner and manager of the Mill in
1999 when the Finzean Water Mills Trust was wound up.
BCT carried out a
major programme of repairs and restoration work to the Mill
after it became owner and has continued working with Stan Moyes
since to carry out on-going maintenance and repairs to the
Mill. Stan periodically produces small batches of buckets as
part of conserving the operation of the Mill. These are made
from staves of native Scots pine timber cut from trees
selectively felled by BCT in the Commonty Pinewoods.
