Birse Kirk & Hall

The historic Birse Kirk dates from the 18th century and is on the site of the Birse parish church for centuries before that. In 2003, BCT bid successfully for both Birse Kirk and the neighbouring Church Hall when they sold in separate open market sales by the Church of Scotland.

These purchases received a large donation from the Ecumenical Trust for Birse Kirk (ETBK) that was raised through the ‘Save Historic Birse Kirk’ appeal. ETBK is a charity committed to conserving and enhancing the spiritual and heritage values of the Kirk, and which maintains and manages Birse Kirk on a long lease from BCT. For more information, including the availability of the Kirk for services or other occasions, contact 013398 85335.

While the former Church Hall is still used in conjunction with events in Birse Kirk, it has been managed since BCT became owner by the Birse Area Community Association (BACA) as Birse Community Hall. BACA looks after and operates the Hall on behalf of the Birse community under a long term management agreement with BCT.

BCT acknowledges the grant from the Scottish Land Fund, a part of the Big Lottery Fund, towards BCT’s purchase of Birse Hall in 2003.
